Experiencing IT development: 2018 LEAP mentorship students visit C&T headquarters
Hong Kong, May 4, 2018 - On April 13, Friday, the Group’s HR representatives greeted a group of over 30 students and their teachers from different schools on a site visit to learn about the real working environment of the Group’s headquarters in Cyberport and meet the colleagues from various departments.
Earlier this year, four colleagues from various business units of C&T participated in the 2018 Life & Career Education Mentorship Project (LEAP) led by HKUGA Education Foundation. Serving as life mentors throughout year-long program, they would visit different secondary schools and guide students through their exploration of the career prospects in information technology. Coming to the second half, the program features company site visits that the students have been looking forward to.
Beginning the visit on the day, the students from CCC Rotary Secondary School, Ning Po College, PHC Wing Kwong College and Yuen Long Public Secondary School gathered in the conference room and were welcomed by the Group’s Vice President, Mr. Steve Yeung, who introduced them to C&T’s background, working environment and daily operation. While having chat sessions with the mentors, the students were taken in groups to a tour around the office and experienced what it is really like when working in an IT company. The mentors’ roles and duties and Cyberport’s relaxing environment both interested the students.
Besides giving them the opportunity to understand the actual operation of IT businesses, C&T hopes to help the younger generation plan their careers through the life mentors’ guidance and experience sharing, and encourage them to explore their own development directions and life goals.
