Building a better future for rural children: C&T engages in “Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours Charity Marathon 2019”
Hong Kong, November 6, 2019 - To make persistent efforts and continuously supporting the community, C&T’s colleagues participated in the 12km and 42km races of “Sowers Action Challenging 12 Hours Charity Marathon” on October 27 for the third consecutive year to raise funds for improving the rural students’ education and welfare.
Sowers Action is a non-religious, non-political and non-profit-making registered charity in Hong Kong, committed to promoting education aid in rural China. The first “Challenging 12 Hours” charity marathon event was initiated in 2000, aiming to raise public awareness of the out-of-school children in less-developed regions in China and raise funds to improve their educational infrastructure. Over the past 20 years, 37,500 participants took part in the marathon series and raised over HK$49 million as education donation.
Early in the morning on the marathon day, C&T’s runners set off at Shing Mun Reservoir Main Dam and Yau Tong Sam Ka Tsuen Recreation Ground for the 12km and 42km races respectively, passed through different checkpoints and finished at American School Hong Kong in Tai Po. The runners finished with encouraging results and reckoned that it was a precious opportunity to experience the hardships of students who need to walk long distances to school in rural regions while effectively raising public awareness of the underprivileged children’s education issue.
